The Court was built by Richard Clutterbuck between 1730 and 1733 on the site of an earlier house. Richard was a fashionable young man with a liking for regional aer and architecture, and his house and its contents represent the height of 18th century tastes. It is probable that the house was built to the designs of the Bristol architect John Strahan, who was a pupil of Sir John Vanbrugh.

The grade 1 listed house is a magnificent mixture of Baroque and Palladian architectural styles and is faced with Bath stone. The principal rooms are at first floor level, no doubt testament to Frampton's high water table as well as the architectural fashion of the time and are reached via an impressive sweep of stone steps leading to the piano nobile. Four imposing Ionic columns flank the front door and ornate swags and masks provide reminiscences of a classical hunting lodge.

Starting at 11am visiting the court and manor, with a home made luncheon from the estate.
The visit will finish at about 4pm, when the botanical garden centre will still be open.

The cost is £55 per person.

Travelling is independent, or car sharing.
